Paddles

I have a set of both haulers and Sand skate 2's. They both work well and throw about the same amount of sand. The Haulers work best on straight up hill and straight paths. The Skates carve up the hillsides alittle easier.

Rather than let Darby take all of the glory on this one. I have to post my two cents worth. Also, this subject has come up at least every two months for the last year or so. Here's what you'll find in a nutshell.
Sand Skate II's - good tough tire, but need lots of hp. Paddles are tall and molded as part of the tire, which makes the tire a bit heavier than the shaved and vulcanized tires. Banshees and hot 250R's really roost with them. Not a good four stroke tire since they tend to dig, unless were talking big hp thumper. Angled paddles make turning a little easier.
Haulers - light, and fairly durable, but shaved down with paddles vulcanized to the casing which can tear off under severe use or from hitting rocks. Easier to puncture than a molded tire. Light weight casing and moderately tall paddles give good grip and flotation for performance quads. Available with 7 - 10 paddles per tire. More paddles requires more hp to turn and gives better grip. Most people run 8 paddles. Popular hill racer tire.
Edge - Basically Haulers with an angled paddle for easier turning.
Gliders - same as haulers, but with shorter paddles which give more spin and easier turning. Good playbike tire and best for 350cc and under four strokes. Can be used with performance quads for more spinning and play oriented riding.
Special order Glider/Hauler combo - A little of both. 4 glider / 4 hauler paddles. Basically more spin than a hauler and more grip than a glider. Good choice for the 400EX.
Cheng Shen Dune Sliders - cheap, stiff, better than knobbies, but a waste of money in my opinion.
GBC Paddles - not much info other than they are a molded tire and are inexpensive.
What I haver personally used -
Sand Skate II's on my Banshee. Great combo. Tough, great grip and easier turning. Major roost!! Less worries about getting a flat in the middle of nowhere.
4 Glider / 4 Hauler on an ATC250R - Better choice than haulers for a trike in my opinion. Front end lift is a major problem with this machine, and the combo tire spins a bit more so you're less likely to loop it. Plenty of grip for hill climbing.
6 Gliders on an ATC200X - They worked great and even though the 200 is not a screamer, it got me around the dunes pretty well.
Dune Sliders for one day on my ATC250R - got them as extra set when I bought the trike. I did not like them at all.
Oh and as Darby says - it's just my opinion, I could be wrong.
