Can a quad be stored on it's rear bumber without gas leaking out of the carb or tank?

If the tank is not so full the fuel will spill from the breather hose in the gas tank cap when elevated,
1. CLOSE the gas tank petcock, turning it to the "OFF" position.
2. DRAIN the carburetor by dumping the gasoline from the float bowl with the drain screw, or by running the engine 'til the carb is dry.
If the petcock seals, no fuel should spill, beyond perhaps a nominal amount of residue in the fuel lines.
MNT's approach, drain the tank, is the safest and most thorough approach, especially if the storage area is near any source of spark, heat, or flame, like a hot-water heater, furnace, electric motor, etc.

If the quad is a four stroke with a dry sump oil system, you could have a problem. The oil resevoir has a vent tube on most quads and when the quad is stood up on end, the oil could drain through this tube which is usually connected to the airbox, thereby filling the airbox with oil. The best thing to do is ask the dealer.

The vent tube for the oil rez on the 400EX connects to the cylinder head, any overflow would flow into the engine instead of on the floor.
