Just to follow up....I wasn't getting any spark so I got a new stator.I was helped here on how to remove and replace it.When I pulled it,all of the oil drained out of that cover. So I bought a complete gasket and oil seal kit and now I would like help with installing what would be letting oil in that stator cover.I would like to change all of the oil seals and gaskets that are easily accesible.Step by steps would be great....Any help is appreciated

I had the same problem on my quad and found out it was the crank seal.I originaly had a flooding problem in my carb and that gas along with oil went to the cylinder and draind past the piston into my crankcase and when I tryed turning my motor over after repairing the carb the pressure in the crank case pushed the gas and oil mix through my crank seal,I should of drained my crankcase first, especialy after having a flooding problem,Live and learn !!!! But I say check your crank seal on the stater side,You just pick it out with whatever works,I used an all,and picked it out in pieces. The new one slid right in and now everythings dry,Hope this helps.

We had 2 yamaha that failed also with in 2 weeks .
We found they were an open circut with a meter.
Found the open wirer on the coil and just connected it with a wirer conector.
Still working 10 years laters

Really?....now i had heard early on from someone posting there should be no oil in the stator cover...and to us it looked like the stator was covered with oil...thats why we were worried about replacing oil seals...the guy told us it might be the seal that was letting oil in...maybe i should just put the new stator in and try it...we were stuck on what to do after we got the stator out..it seemed the case or magneto..anyway the round thing the stator sat in..didnt want to come off..and i didnt know where to go from here without destroying the quad...thanks for your help...maybe ill just put it back together and see if it will start...

There are 2 types of stators/flywheels and they are different sizes and must be matched .. 1 is Mitsuba .. 2 is ND (Denso) ...

Old story, I know.....

How does one know which they have? Are they labeled? How to tell? And does the Mitsuba require a different size flywheel puller vs the Denso?
