Default ball hitch

I have a trailer that I want to pull its a 5x8 utlity trailer. It requires a 1 7/8 ball. I was lookin at the ball at the store and the shank or the thing where u slide in the hole with the threads looks alittle to wide for the the hitch for my bike.

What it mean is that the hole is to small for the ball to bolt down on. Is there anyother sizes that will fit on my bike. I seen other atvs with ball hitches.
What ball size do I need I know I need a 1 7/8 but some thing with a skinner shank that will fit the hole.
