I've been using Mobil 1 oil and filters for a few years now in the V-Star, Honda and Polaris. I have 0% complaints. It's easy to find at larger Wal-Mart stores. I bulk order filters from Amazon.com. I have just started using Purolator filters in the car and trucks. They are great filters too.

So a castrol GTX like you find in Auto barn would be fine?

Canadian-

5W20 is way way light for one of those old school air cooled engines, which have very slack tolerances!

Plus, if it is 5W20 no doubt it is "car" oil, and if you read the article I posted above, today's car oils don't have the anti-wear additives that they had before 1993 when the government butted into things!!! For this reason, the only oil I will run in my trucks is Redline, which still has the more robust SG additive package (yet is also SL/SM)!
