Hey Rick. Must feel really great buying that first quad. Some advice from an older person. I am only 5' tall and about 105lbs soaking wet. I had a Recon, and I am not a very agressive rider, but I was very unhappy with the way it handled. I am fairly new at riding, so I didn't have the shifting part down very well yet, but I learned really fast, and it was way easy. Anyway, to make a long story short, I sold my Recon and bought a 300ex. What a great difference! You are old enough to handle a 300ex, and I am sure you will be much happier with it later on. I bought my 2001 300ex for only $3500, from a guy in Ohio that just didn't want it. There are some really great deals out there if you are willing to look for them. One place to start is www.cycletrader.com
Thats where I found mine. You sound like a terrific kid working like that to buy your own quad, best of luck to you. Hope you find that perfect bike for a great price.
Here are some pics of my Recon last summer and my new 300ex.

I'm 5'5 and about 130 pounds Man I love honda Quads although I've never owned a Quad before we Have this good Honda/Yamaha dealer where i live and I always ride my freinds Quads (which are Honda) it is realy tight trails where I live and when it rains it's all mud. The 300ex is an awsome bike but I think The bike for me right now is the Recon and in a couple of years I'l move on to a 300EX or if I need more Utility I'l go with the rancher but right now i'm going with the RECON
thanks for all your help. Rick

Oh the recon is a GREAT qaud.I rode my buddies neighbors for a while and was really impressed with it's power output. It handled decently and I rode it around a little track that was setup. It slid very good and I even rode some wheelie's.I KNOW you will be very happy with your purchase.

Rick, way to go! Its great seeing Americas youth working & buying their toys! You will enjoy the Recon its a great quad, a little cold natured even when its warm outside. There are many after market enhancements if you are into that.
Good Luck
