Starts fine when I give it a little gas. When I stop it will die if I do not continue to give it gas. Any suggestions?

 

have you tried raising the idle (screw on side of carb) if that doesn't work, you probably have some crud in the idle circut within the carb. Disassemble the carb and give it a good cleaning.

 

I had the same problem with my 250r i just bought.I went out and bought a clymer manual.I ended up setting the air screw to factory setting and then adjusting the idle screw up as the book says till it would idle fine.Try this and i would also suggest getting a manual.There is alot of good info in there.
