I have a friend that has a 2007 Rubicon that has started doing something funny.
It will now crank in gear without appling the brake but if you crank it that way it will not take any gas. It just sits there and misses. If you put it in Nuetral and crank it the thing runs just fine,
Does anyone know what the problem is? He bought it new about 7 or 8 months ago. It sits outside all the time and it has been rode pretty hard but nothing extreme.

 

sound like the switch on the brake lever is stuck . cause mine will start in gear with the lever pulled in but you cant give it gas untill you release the brake.

 

You are exactly right. We talked to a guy at a repair shop and he recommended that we check that.
What is actually happening is that the brake lever is not returning all the way back in. Thanks for the help
