1997 300 4 trax
Has anybody up here ever disassembled the final drive on a 4trax 300? The Clymer book says special Honda tools are required. It shows a breakdown of the final drive, and it doesnt look overly complicated. If you have disassembled one before, was it very difficult and did you actually need the special Honda tools?
The reason I ask this question is, I was hearing a squeal from the rear, and was thinking the bearing just behind the brake drum had gone out again, I also noticed the axle nut on the oppsite side appeared wet with oil. I pulled the fill plug, and the final drive was full of water, litterally. So at a minum I know I need some new seals, but I am thinking about opening up the final drive and inspect for damage, and possibly replace the bearings.
Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
JC
