Default 2002 400EX tether

I just bought a 2002 400ex and it has 2 wires hanging from the left handlebar near the factory kill switch. The seller said it was for a tether but he did not have it anymore. I want to put one back on but the tethers I have found online are just inline with the factory kill switch.
The wires that are hanging, one is ground wire and the other has 12volts only with the key switch on.
Can any tell me if there is a tether that hooks up like this to the key switch with 12v on one side and ground on the other????
Please help
Thanks

Some people will just ground the coil with the tether to kill the motor, that's why you have 12VDC on one side with the key on, I have a 1999 400ex with a tether on it, I won't be home until Thursday night, I can check it out and let you know how it is hooked up, if you want.

Yes please check for me and check the wire colors too.
So if they ground the coil by rights if I touch these 2 wires whille the machine is running it will kill it???

Yes, that's how I have my son's 300ex tether wired up, but I know on the 400ex, there is a 2 colored wire spliced into the tether, like a green/black, or something like that. I will check it out Friday ( I get back late on Thurs. night) and post the results here.

Well wolv I figured it out. I downloaded a wire diagram and found that the 2 wires hanging were for the factory clutch switch which is no longer there due to a new clutch lever installed. I now know that the blk/wht wire that goes to the ignition module gets grounded like you said for the kill switch.
Its amazing what a wire diagram can tell you!!

Does anyone know if the clutch switch comes with a new lever assy or is it a seperate unit??

Thanks for your help

The clutch switch is so you have to have the clutch pulled in to start the engine, you can just tape them off and tie them out of the way, just remember to pull in the clutch before hitting the start button !!
