I have a 2001 4ooex.My start button broke so I bought a switch off of a 2003. Now I can only start it in neutral. Even when I am in gear and pull the clutch in it won't start. Does anyone know if the wiring is set up differently from 01 to 03?

 

should be same as far as i know, maybe u have a bad switch

 

my 07 has two wires in the stock clutch perch.when you put on a aftermarket perch you have to connect the 2 wires together to start it in gear.and it will also crank in gear without the clutch pulled in.
