Thanks, the TRX is a wheelie machine. It has great low and mid range. The 2 Brothers pipe made huge improvements all the way through. I ride pretty tight trails, 2nd and 3rd do great on the trails. Every now and then I have to drop to 1st.

I have to agree nice 450ex stoopidbot....but to stay on track with the forum i say get the 450 if u have problems stalling on tight trails juist lower the gear ratio a bit .
the 450 list for about 1000.00 more than the 400 and you'd spend more than that trying to make the 400 keep up with a 450 ..so get the 450 leave it stock and go fast for many years to come..Its nice when the only tool you need is a gas can
oh yea honda honda honda

I totally agree that you will spend this difference in money trying to make the 400 like a 450. Either way you go, Honda(and most others) puts the crappiest set of Dunlop radials on their quads. Everyone complains that the TRX450 tips to easy in turns. I agreed until I put my Razr2s on. Get a different tire as soon as possible. The exhaust on the 450 is also pretty restrictive and heavy. Find a new one. A new slip on pipe, remove the airbox lid and have it jetted correctly and your 450 will run with just about any quad. You will not effect the motor at all so you don't lose reliability.

Thanks for the compliments, FYI it's a TRX450R not an EX

i was @ the honda shop the other day lookin @ the new 700 efi & they told me that the 450r had more on topend than the 700s , but the 700 was a little better on the trail , but if i was going to buy a new one it would b 450 all the way

450 cost to much to matain and the water cooled engine will give problems long before the simple air cooled 400 engine and i have no prob riding on the back tires of my 400ex!

What makes the TRX450 so expensive to maintain? Is it the 5 bucks a month in oil or the 7 bucks on the filter? What makes you think the air cooled will last longer than a liquid cooled? Is that what you tell yourself to justify having a slower quad.

the 400ex is wayyy simpler then the 450. that means less parts to break. it is an aircooled bike but they hardly ever overheat, until you bore out the motor. i think honda would have made them watercooled by now like the suzuki z400 if the 400ex's were so unreliable. yea a 450 will kill a 400 in a drag or on a track, but on the trails its a whole different story.

I have the 07 trx 450r, I would have to say its great in the trails (of course my old quad was a big bear 350 with a monster lift kit) I ride in some pretty tight trails and dont have any problems keeping up with anyone even the raptor 700's.

I agree the dunlop stock tires suck. It came between the 450r & 400ex for me as well, after riding both one after another I chose the 450r and havent regreated it bit.
