400ex Aarms on 300ex
#1
I've got a set of 400ex A arms on the way to put on my 300ex ...(Ive already got 400ex shocks and a homade shockrelocator braket )....I'm courious how much wider this will make my front at a stock ride height?

It gives you about an inch on each side, so you end up 2 inches wider than stock. The big pay off is about double the front shock travel, you will be amazed how much nicer it rides and takes jumps. Now you have to follow that up with an aftermarket rear shock, or if you can find a 2001 Raptor rear shock (has to be 2001,only year with remote shock resivior),that will bolt right in. Remember to widen out the rear to match, with either wheel spacers, or a new axle, sometimes having the back narrower than the front will make it handle funndy. I put 1" spacers on the rear of my son's 300ex when we did the 400ex front end swap, it looks and handles great.

well i had the 400ex shocks on my 250x with my braket and stock a arms ...
I loved the handiling difference....but ive juist put a atc 350x swingarm and axle ( 1-1&1/2 longer than the 300ex axle) in my 300 ex ,and the resi shock ,so i figured to make it complete id use the 400ex shocks in front ,and id rather have the a arms than wheel spacers .... it sounds like i can make this thing even without wheel spacers yay!! thanx for the info I was looking at wheel spacers priced at about 120.00 a pair so i did a little ebay reserch and some last second bidding and scored the 2004 400ex a arms for 100.00 shipped
again thanx

you can but ive heard bad things about wheel spacers such as ..they expose your brakes in front where they can be eaisly damaged..the extended leverage of the spacers may also increse wear on wheel berrings and ball joints if put on the front..as far as the rear goes worst case senerio is a bent axle when diong big jumps ( prob be ok on trails)
.
.so i say you can but i woultend recomend using spacers on the front
..but u could use ( or make your own )one of the widining kits they sell on ebay ,along with some longer brake lines, and some +2" 400ex tie rods or how ever much wider you make your machine..

I forgot to mention how much better this thing handels now..and on take off i get a near perfect hole shot ,and im running stock tires ....the addition of the 350x rear swinger+axle+shockmakes so when i launch off the line it pulls the front tires about 1 foot off the ground ,and launches instead of spinning ,this repeats as i shift into second and third ........pure awsome

whats the advantage of runing 400 ex a-arms suppose to 300 ex? why not just buy 400ex?

(*pariniah)it makes the 300ex +2inches wider and the shocks are lots better ...a 400ex is juist a all around badder machine
billybob 300ex rider ....+1inch the rear 350x shock is the biggest diffrence.and the 350 axle gives a +2 inches on the rear.....
.....basicly with this setup the 300ex is ready for the mx track with the big jumps...most people would blow the stock 300 shocks on a mx track unless your a small person..
