Default 2005 Recon Wont roll

Hi new to the forums, but not new to atvs. 2 years ago me and my dad put up our recon. Now we want to start riding again. We have cleaned the carb and the gas tank so now it will idle. But when we push the shifting buttons the shifting motor moves
but it wont shift. It also wont roll in neutral. Its like the back wheels are welded shut. I have tried adjusting the clutch and the brakes and neither helped. The battery is dead but we are jumpstarting. It wont even shift when jumpstarting it either. Please Help

You sure the back brake shoes aren't rusted to the drum from setting so long?

Heres what i would do, put it in neutral, jack up the front and back so u can spin the wheels freely. try the front ones, if they spin then its not front brakes, now try the back, i am guessing it the back will not spin. in that case The Toolman could be right, the shoes could be rusted to the drum. Try playing with the foot brake lever, if you can push on it and feel it come back with your foot then the shoes are probably functioning normally if the pedal stays down when you push on it the shoes are probable fused. If the brakes are not the case i would suggest investigating the clutch.

Thanks for the replies. I hooked up the jumpstarter battery to it and tied it to the back. But when i shift it into reverse it does go anywhere the engine revs. Same when in 1st gear. ikeyrider it is the back wheels.

Did you check the foot brake? like i said in the previous post if you can feel the brake open back up after you push on it the shoes are probably not the problem, but if you push on the pedal and it does not rebound or you dont feel any pressure comming back on the pedal it probably is the brakes.

It was the rear brakes stuck to the rim. Me and my dad and his friend pushed the rear tires until they rolled. Now the brake wont work.

Your going to have to replace all the rusted/faulty parts in the brake housing to get the brakes to work

The 2005 Recon honda has a recall on the angle sensor.
My wifes would not shift at all and if it is reverse your wheels may be locked up in gear. Do the gear lights blink while trying to shift it out of into gear?

I heard about that recall but i thought it was last year when you had to get the new one. My angle sensor is working perfectly (knock on wood) with the car jumpstarter battery strapped to the racks. Ikeyrider the brakes barely work. How much do you think the parts for the brakes will cost. If its alot ill just ride it with only front brakes.
