anybody kno anything about an 87 honda trx 250x?

Do you know the exact HP of your 98 300ex in bone stock ? I'm trying to decide whether to sell my 87 250X which is 21.1 hp and get a 96 300ex that is in ok shape but not quite as nice as my 87 250x. I'm not into mods so that's why I'm asking about bone stock. Plus, I'm not sure I actualy NEED more hp. My 250x sure is alot of fun and plenty quick enough. On another post someone saud the 300ex has 20 hp. If that's true, I guess I'll stick with my 250x.

i dont .,but in comparison from 250x to 300ex ( both piped+jetted with open air box ) the 250x had more topend power and the 300ex has more bottom end (torque) your avatar says trail blaser .....which is what i do if you want more bottem end from the 250x juist run lower gears ( ..try a 10 dollar front sproket before deciding on trade) ( i ran 12 /41 on my 250 and 14/36 on my 300)

that is an extreeme difference but head to head the 250 owned unless you found a trail fast enough for top speed
if your running stock gears ( 13/39 ) try a 12 in the front giving u 12/39 it should rip then ,juist shift before it stutters
(and keeping your enjine stock should gaurntee many more years of fun)

theonly reason my sig. says about to recive 300ex motor is because i blew the 250 on my bday ..plan on fixing it as well

Great info for me Y2daT, thanks. I think I will try the 12/39. That certainly is an easy thing to do. Thanks again. I'll let you know how I like it. You're correct about trail blazer. That's all I do is trails and I rarely get outta 3rd gear. Of course, part of the reason for rarely getting outta 3rd is because I ride with my wife and she is not much for rippin up the trails. And that's ok. I get on it once every so often and then wait for her to catch up. Makes us both happy.
