I have recently purchased a trx 125. With a little work I got it running, but Im having trouble with the transmission. When I try to take off it makes a loud noise from the transmission area, like two gears grinding. I can get it to go, but it will also do it when I turn. I can aslo hit the shifter down like five times and every time it jumps like its going into another gear, the only problem is that it only has a high and low range gear, not five. I got it running, but I have no idea where to start with the transmission, or if that is even the problem. I just need some sugestions as to where to start. Any help would be great.

 

make sure the reverse lever is totally disengaged. the cable can get stuck from lack of maintenance and cause some weired shifting issues. it happened on my little brothers `86 125. also you could check to make sure the shifter hasent stripped out the shaft we had this happen also if none of this helps its probable internal.
