450R pros and cons
These engines are all rev. They are great for going fast in more open country, but they aren't the hot setup for tight trails (lots of clutch slipping required).
Great handling and the stock shocks are good (if you take the time to set them up correctly). I have mine widened +3 by simply using wider tires and rims with a greater offset (ITP XC's on ITP Baja rims)...it corners like it is on rails! I can bash through big desert whoops at full throtle.
All the 450's (not just the Honda), require frequent oil changes! Here is why:

Nice thing....the Honda seperates the engine and trans oils, so you can run a slick friction modified oil in the engine side, for some extra horsepower! I run Redline MC oil in the engine side, and their 80W Gear Oil with ShockProof in the trans.

Also, the 04/05 has a different engine than the 06 and later. The 04/05 is overbuilt and has an oil cooler. Once the CRF450X came out, Honda went with a similar engine for the 06 and later models. Also, a few chassis changes (longer swingarm and a little wider front end) on the 06 and later models.
Some deset race teams will only run the 04/05, if that tells you anything....
HRC kit is the best modification bang or your buck, and will make it scream on the mid to top end.
