My 400EX smokes when you run really hard, if you just putt around it doesn't smoke at all, it also smokes the worse once it is first started in the morning after it has sat all night. thanks and please help

 

Usually valve seals on 400ex.

 

what color is the smoke? if its white smoke its valves. if its black smoke it rings. hope i helped

Grey color of spark plug means : Lean condition , Black color means : Rich condition and : Tan/Brown color means : Carb Jetting is correct !

Sometimes smoking can be a sign of exccessive carbon buildup inside the combustion chamber , heres a inexpensive test you can do to burn off the exccess carbon deposits and cleanup the fuel system as well ; add some SeaFoam to the gas tank and burn a tank of the mixed fuel through your engine !

You can get SeaFoam at most all Automotive Parts Stores , and some of your local WalMart SuperCenters for around $7.00 ; SeaFoam is a great product that really works great at cleaning the fuel , Carb and Combustion Chamber on all small engines 2 and four strokes , Gasoline and Diesel Fuel !

I would also reccomend a complete service of the engine , New Spark Plug , Clean and reoil the AirFilter and change the engine oil and oil filter ; and make sure you don't over fill the oil this can cause alot of problems !
