Hi
I have had this three wheeler for 10 years and only use for deer hunting, Last year it ran fin going to the woods and then acted up on way out . Since then i have replace plug trim coil wire fixed a hole in muffler and put new carb and air cleaner. But it still doesn't have no power it will rev but cuts out and when i am riding it it just doesn't seem to take a load it almost seems like it just doesn't get enought gas it is like running half thottle at wide open it doesn't die it just falls on it face but keeps running. the plug was changed and it wasn't fouled looked good . I am pulling my hair out on this one.

You said you had to put a new carb on it. Did you just put the carb on, or have you tried adjusting it and setting it to your big red? If it feels like it is falling on its face, hopefully adjusting your carb will help.
Was the carb you put on there; new, used, or a reman?
Are you sure the new carb is good?
Good luck

it was a new carb and yes i have tried adjust the air mixture set screw and the idle, the mixture screw is about 2 rounds open and idle screw is set to keep running. This was the same way it acted with old carb on it also.

How long has it been since the valves have been adjusted? If it is cutting out, maybe the the valves aren't opening or closing when they should or not seating all the way. You may even have bad rings on your piston. It may be worth looking into rebuilding that engine.

No I haven't adjusted valves and yes i have thought about a rebuild , I guess what has me puzzled is that it did it all at once on the way in to the woods ran great then on the way back started acting up didn't want to start then after got it started it had the problem. I was just trying to narrow it down to make sure that it isn't something i am missing that is a easy fix

this may be a dumb question but the throttle slide can it be adjusted by Moving the needle clip position will affect the mid throttle i read that in a post. if so how do you move the clip it seem like it is all the way down and the spring holds the clip down and needle , this may be the problem a picture would be great
Thanks

sounds like you might be getting intermittent spark. Have you looked at the spark yet? Could be a bad coil or coil wire as well as a cdi box. I have 2 84 big reds and have had to replace a cdi box on both of them. I would look the whole electrical system over. Checking your fuel filter is also a good idea as was mentioned before.

my atc 200s ran this way then i spent the weekend cleaning the carb and it runs fine now .....dont want to sound like a idiot but if the choke isnt fully disingaged it will run that way......but could be a rev limit prob ..you may unplug and replug your wire connections and solve this ..ive solved this problem on my 250x that way...( a loose connection was to blame) aparently a branch or somthing knocked a wire loose.........if you come up blank still get a manual and follow the electrical trouble shooting guide
