So what would it take to turn a Rubicon into a snow removal machine ?

I'm interested tho maybe not this year but next year for sure all depends on pricing. . .
What would i have to do to make Blue rubie a fully equiped snow removal rig ?
salter/sander plow ? ?? ?

I personally wouldn't bother with a sander. A couple pounds of sand, spread thick enough to do much good, won't go very far. I see you have an M275... That would spread sand good.
For the Rubicon, naturally chains, a good quality plow, and a winch with synthetic line. Actually, if you have the upper body strenth, sometimes a hand lift can be fast and handy...
Otherwise, you could spin cookies in the AMX until the snow is all gone

LL I bet the M-275 would sand great if i wanted to spread 24,000#'s of it. . .
I'm not think the Stude nor the AMX should be used in salty weather tho. . . but it sure sounds like a blast. . .
Some how i don't feel like running around at 3AM in 55+year old 2.5ton Truck tractor draging a trailer full of sand. . .or pulling off the fifth wheel ta mount a sander body cause than i may as well add a big ol V-plow ! ! ! after doing all of that than the $6,000 in tires don't seem so exspensive. . . than i might have to do work work to make any money ! ! ! or atemped to pay for all the new mods ! ! !

You probably already thought of the other stuff you might want...
I'd probably run some handguards, and heated grip/throttle. Maier makes nice machine-specific hand guards that have good coverage. There are also those boot things that go over the bars, but you are likely to be taking your hands off and on the bar a lot when plowing to manipulate the plow or shift between forward and reverse. Anyway, I've found handguards block the blast of cold air on the gloves and help a lot, and they might be handier than the boot things.
A windshield might also be worth considering.
When it gets cold battery output drops, and it also takes more amps to start the engine, plus you are likely to be running a winch and handwarmers, and probably lights... The alternator output on a quad isn't that great, and it would have to run for a while to bring a partly drained battery back to full charge. A battery tender Jr, or the waterproof version if you park outside, could be worth while.
If it gets super-cold, you might also want to run lighter weight oil, and maybe run synthetic since it has better cold pumpability...

dont forget bout hitch weight to counter balance the plow and add traction to the rear wheels ...i'd keep the salt away ,or have her rino lined to prevent rust ..
...maby go through the frame bolts and antiseeze them.....they even sell full stanless bolt kits on ebay for diffrent machines
$ as far as making the money quads are great for driveways and parking lots $

you dont need all the stuff jeffin said
we plow with my dads in the winter you do need to add weight to the back. but you could get some heated hand grips.. as long as u wear two or three pairs of medium/thick gloves youll be fine..

oh sure. . .thats an impressive list of things to get guys . . .
wouldn't the salter/sander on the rear rack add enough weight ?
now as for easy starting I got Amsoil in the engine/trans/Hi,LO,REV box<<all the same case and both front and rear diffs have amsoil. . . so lubrication wise it's covered very very well. . .
because of the power draw of the spreader i was going to mount a second battery on one of the racks. . .350-525CCA extra . ( more power more weight)
this machine will prolly spend all of its plowing season in the Lo gear as with hauling all of the plowing units its also gotta turn the 27" kenda executioners i stuffed on it this summer (27x10-12 front,27x12-12 rear).
so i'm thinking this ain't going to happen this year so if you guys could build me an List aka 1.plow 2.winch 3. spreader <<setup like this so i can write it down and refer back to this post.. . .. it would be nice .
