I recently put an HRC cam in my XR400 engine with all new rocker arms. (HRC Honda Racing Corporation)I previously had a White Bros cam, the rest of the 406 kit still in bike, complete E-series.

In my opinion the HRC cam has more power everyware, the W.B. cam seemed to have a little of a mid hit or lack of bottom, the HRC cam improves everyware.

Has anybody tried one of these cams in a 400EX?

Does anyone run a stock XR400 cam in there 400EX?

I have several freinds from down south of me that run modified 400EX's with the XR cam with great sucses.

I have a 2000 xr400 cam in my 416ex. I love it. Didn't have to do any mods, just dropped right in. My question to you is...Are you talking about the regular xr400 cam ($110-180 in price) or the actual race cam for the xr400 made by Honda ($400-500 in price) There are 2 different versions and not many people know about the high dollar one. I don't know anyone running that cam either, due to its price.

The HRC cam is the race cam the more expencive one.
My brother is a service manager/mechanic at our Honda dealer so I get all my parts at cost, that's the only way I could aford the HRC cam.
The stock XR cam sounds like a great option for the 400EX, rather than going through a reground cam and a set of rocker arms every so often.
My experience with reground cams is not very good, even changing my oil after every race and every other ride(Honda semi/synthetic 20/50)

I'm buying the HRC cam for my 400EX. I found it at Service Honda for $277.09 part# 14000-nkk-000. If you want to see a picture of it, go to hrcusa.com and look under off-road performance products. Apparently, it comes with the decompression feature- which I want. Unfortuately, they don't give the specs on the camshaft. Last year I bought a used WebCam 450/451 for $60 but never put it in. If I get the time, I'll put both in to compare performance.

Hey guys

Be sure to check out your rocker arms when changing cams, mine were toast after a year of hard riding and racing, even changing the oil on a regular basis.

That part # is right 14000 HKK 000
