Default Honda 300ex problems

Hi everyone i have a few questions. I own a 1994 honda 300ex. I bought it about a year ago from an old guy in my town. When i got it there was almost no oil in it which is a problem. I believe he had ran it on very low oil because it has a moderate blowby problem which has been giving me trouble. Anyway I just went out and started her up to make sure she was still alive out in the shed. After i choked her she fired right up and was running a little fast becauase i have had to mess with the idle speed. She was also backfiring a fair amount. Anyway i shut her down after about 20 seconds of idling and i looked down and noticed smoke rolling out of where the head pipe mates with the head. I think it could have been oil on the head pipe because i have noticed a little bit of oil on the front of the head close the the pipe. But it did not smell like oil. Also last couple times i rode i noticed the valves making a little extra noise. I was just hoping the head gasket was not blown. I dont think here should be any reason for this because i dont ride too crazy and she didnt smoke or leak oil or whistle like a head gasket probably would last time i rode. Anyway i was wondering if maybe this could be linked to the exhaust valve or blowby or mayb just a little oil on the header. Also i have almost no money to invest into it, so taking it to a dealer is out of the question. Thanks any insight whatsoever would be appreciated.

I had a 300EX and in the right side of the engine on top is a black plug on the side of the head, this can seep a little oil, especially once it sits for a while, mine did the same thing, i would just keep an eye on the oil level, and for the valves, any is a little noisy, you are probably just hearing them now, because you know there is a problem, before you didn't pay any attention, all 300EXs make a little valve chatter.

yep mines a little leaky as well, you may need a new header (exaust) gasket ,wich is a copper ring if buy ( head pipe) you mean the exaust pipe.......if you'r pointing to the oil line that runs from the crank case to the head ,and see oil leaking try tighting the bolts that mount this( not to much you can strip the bolt )..i had a leaky oil line and fixed it by replacing the copper washers that make the seal where it bolts on.......440ex2002 may have found the leak already by the rubber gasket mine seeps there a bit as well....if you don't run her out of oil she'll be fine
.
anayway i got my exaust( header) seal from the dealer it was like 2.00 and the oil line seals are about .50 ea and theres 4 on the oil line .you can find them at a auto parts store in the help section or juist get them from the dealer as well
( the oil line seals are either 6mm or 8mm copper washers)

Thanks guys but do you think there is anything to the problem of the oil leaking from the blowby hose, sometimes it leaks quite a bit

the blow by hose should be hooked up to the air intake,if it is plugged or not hooked up, it will leak onto the motor.
