I live in Wyoming at an altitude of over 6000 ft and usually ride in the nearby mountains and in Colorado at altitudes of 8500-12000ft. I frequently have been fowling spark plugs (running to rich) with the factory jet (#85). Does anyone know which size jet would give me the most power without making it run to lean or to rich? Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks

well for 3000-8000 they recomend a 92 jet size plus setting you air mixture screw . Your prob going to have to mess with jets and you air mixture screw. I live in like an altitude of like 800ft . I pute an 84 jet in and set my air mixture screw down 1/8th turn from stock . But i had to restrict the air flow so it seems your 85 jet should be ok. My recon came with a 95 stock. I would call a dealer near you and ask them

A quick fix I heard of was to take airbox lid off. The increased air flow counteracts the lower oxygen. On my Recon I found out that even opening the end of the snorkle up caused it to run too lean. That might work for you instead of jetting. If those things don't work, just get a few progressively smaller jets to try. They are only a couple bucks each. You may need to lower your needle a notch if possible as well. I would call a Honda dealer as well because they should have specs showing what to use at altitude.
