Mine's extremely cold blooded as well. I've heard that going up to a 40 or 42 pilot will help. I haven't tried it yet, but it is on my short list of things to do this winter.

400ex wont start cold weather
Cold air is more dense than warm, so it messes up your fuel:air mixutre, making you lean. Play with the fuel screw and that may do it, or you may have to fattern the pilot jet just a bit.
Also, it has a pumper carb, so if you pump the throtle a few times like has been suggested, that will prime it. I do that, and I never need the choke, not even in the coldest weather.
Make sure you run thinner oil in winter, like at least 10W30, or 5W30 if it is really cold. An ester synthetic like Maxima 530MX if you are willing to pay the tab......
Also see your owner's manual about running a hotter sparkplug in very cold weather.
