Pretty sure same engine on all years of the EX. I can't remember which year they added reverse but, I'm going to agree with scrambler400enoge anyway. I'm afraid to disagree with him because, I'm afraid his avatar will eat me.
LTZ i believe is fuel injected and prefers higher rev's. From what I've heard the 'ol EX's will lug down more than the LTZ making it a bit better for slower trails.
Either of these machines will be superior to the Warrior IMO.

Stay away from the Warrior. It is an old tired design, that never was that good.
What they said, except that the Z only got fuel injection and a redesign this year.
I like the EX for trail riding, and the Z for more open trails and wide open country.

I think that the Z would be better on hills, and sand pits. The reasoning behind this is that the Z likes to rev higher, and on hills I believe it's ideal to be revving high in a gear, if the hill is technical that is...If you look at all the best sand/dune machines they generally like to rev high.

I say the opposite....rev vs grunt for hillclimbs. I have a whole canyon full of monster hillclimbs behind by house (Reche Canyon), so it's not like I have no experience at this! I actually prefer the EX, over the Z or the 450R for hillclimbs. The engines that like to rev, often result in just a bunch of useless wheelspinning. The EX has less power, but all that power gets to the ground!!!
