If you want all around power, I don't think you should go with the XR400 cam, it is mid to high range. I bought TC's grind for XC racing, but I don't have my motor finished yet so I can't tell you how it feels, but TC gave me alot better advice than any other shop I called. Thumper racing is also pretty honest I hear. Don't let anyone sell you a cam that doesn't apply to what you want.

I paid $165 for mine plus core. I know you can find a few around the $150 mark plus core, but, They were all trying to sell my high range cams even though I didn't want that. I don't want to bash anybody about this, so if you want a list of shops that were steering me wrong, then email me.
Good luck.

I paid $112 to my door from servicehonda for my 2000 xr400 camshaft. It is a mid/high cam and really helps. It is not as wild as other cams, but you have to do no mods like hardened rockers or different springs. the dealer wanted like $175 for the cam, saved a bunch from servicehonda with no core charge or anything. I am running a 416 kit also at 11 to 1. It all depends on what you are trying to do.

Contact www.webcaminc.com and get the 450/451 grind cam. It is a very good all around cam.. You do not have to change valve springs with this cam. But it is suggested that you hardface the rockers.
That is their opinion, I have not had the rockers done and mine is fine. I just inspected them last weekend after a year and a half of use with the cam.
