I'm going to be riding trails and probably won't get stuck much but when I do I'll be near trees. What's my options as far as portable winch or come-along? Winches aren't cheap but would fit nicely right on the nose of the bike behind grab bar. Will be riding alone a lot until my friend can afford a bike so don't want to strand my bike

Any ideas?

 

There are several small winches that would fit OK on a sport quad. Polaris also makes a versawinch thing, basically a portable winch with a battery built into the package.

A decent comalong would probably also pull it out of most things.

i usually dont ride alone because its to easy for things to happen , i was flyn down a new loggin road i found by myself and topped a hill and went airborne , then i saw the tree cross the road , i hit it and it knocked me & my ex off asmall bank(prob 8 ' straight up ) into a creek , i wish id had a winch then , cause i didnt think i was going to get it out

 

You could probably fabricate a mount for any 1500# winch you buy. That's what I've been thinking of doing with my 400EX.
