Default how to patch a gas tank?

my daughter has a cobra 50 and it seems that the head melted a place on the corner and leaks now , i tried jb weld with no luck , anybody got any ideas

Ah.....just another problem with an "off brand".....

There is tank patching stuff out there. Go to the mail order places like rocky mountain and dennis kirk, and you may be able to scare some up. Local dealers should know about this as well.

After you patch it, get some of that aluminum heat reflective tape and put it over the hot spot.

When I cleaned out my 85 Fourtrax's gas tank, I unlodged some gunk in the tank that allowed several pinhole leaks to form in one corner. Guess I shouldn't have used the high pressure water hose. I used JB weld and it's been holding up just fine.

ur right , u get what u pay for , ive got several off brand and dont like any of them , i got this one n a trade , basicly i traded my daughters sx 65 for my 400ex and the cobra50 , so i came out pretty good , just got to fix it to sell and hopefull get my girls another blaster or a 250ex

make sure you sand the paint and get it very smooth and clean with paint thinner, i did then went and got some heavy duty gas tank putty designed especially for it from a car parts store. its been 3 months and not one single drop of gas,i used the whole tube also........... mudslinger,u live in tn?

Could it be welded with a plastic welder or maybe use a soldering iron and melt some plastic to patch it. I have cut plastic and melted it to patch fenders. Just a thought.

i know you cant you cant weld a tank at all anywhere on it,but you might be able to do the plastic thing though,never heard of it being done,i would like to know if it works..........
