TRX450R

Im 16 and just got my first atv last june it is a lt230s. for learning on it it was fine but now im done with it. my weight factor was very noticeable in the acceleration and top speed. im looking into a 450r but unsure about it. im 6ft and weigh 215lbs so u think that this is a good atv for me or does it go just by skill???

Well, 6' isn't super tall and 215 isn't super heavy, so I don't see any problem as long as you are comfortable sitting on the quad.
The R is a superb machine, and mine (HRC kit) will go faster than it is safe to go in most terrain! The R is at its best in faster more open trails and wide open country, but its revy engine does not lend itself very well to tight trail riding. For tighter trails, I would pick a 400EX, Z400, or maybe Raptor 700 instead.

I agree with Recon's statement. The R has the best ergonomics of all the 450s.IMO The thing really shines when you can hold at least a good 3rd gear, you can fly. Get rid of the stock dunlops as soon as possible, they SUCK! Definitely sit on all of your options before committing to one.

Not only the high revving nature of it, but the 450's are high maintainence engines and have no reverse. I really like my 400ex for tight trails. I'm 6'0 and 250lbs and it feels good to me. You can easily keep up with a 450 in the tight stuff with a 400ex.

where i live its a tight trail for maybe a mile then its all open and we have a big hill climb here that i love to do on my friends banshee but for some reason nothing else but the 450s and banshees can make it up and im looking for a machine that youll never really top out bc on my lt230s and my friends warrior i constanly top out and that bugs me

This engine needs the HRC kit to meet its full potential, especially if you want that screaming overrev.
As for maintenance, all the 450's need frequent oil changes (not just the Honda), and it is also good to do fairly frequent valve adjustments. Why you need to change oil often:
