what are some of the ups and downs in the 450

ups-fast, pretty reliable, good looking, very agile
downs- high gearing, not great for trail riding, not EFI it's not really a negative, but it would be nice

no reverse is a bummer in the tight trails...but i think it is a good over-all quad...

Ditto on those points.

It's no trail quad, so if you run in the really tight stuff look for one of the 400's or the Raptor 700 instead. Reverse is no big deal, seeing it isn't a tight trail quad anyway.

For me, it is the finest quad I have ever owned! It screams through the desert and corners like it is on rails. It's the closest thing to the old 250R 2-stroke that I have ever ridden!

As for maintenance, all the 450's need frequent oil changes. Read this to find out why:
