Help installing brake seals
My front brake drum seals were non existant, so I got some new ones, planning on installing tonight.
It's pretty obvious where they go, but I'm wondering if I need to apply some grease or lube to them or the whole track where they sit before installing. I would expect I have to put something in there. Anyone know exactly what I should do, what kind of grease etc. I'm a novice working on brakes...
Also there's a partial notch cut out in one spot - where should this be positioned? Guessing at the bottom to allow for drainage?
Thanks for the help!

Help installing brake seals
Thanks. I ended up using some general grease to do the job Fri night. The brakes seem well sealed.
Now I can see that drum brakes are a pain to maintain. I've got everything together, drums and pads are dry but still little braking power. 25 year old adjusters are a bit hard to move.
Don - if you're reading this - we need to bust these open again someday and adjust them right! Thanks for the 1 1/8 socket loan too.
