when I hit the throttle hard on the bike it sometimes will lose power (not electrical power but maybe transmission power) i let the throttle off and you can hear a electric whirling type of noise and if you wait a second you have engine power again. I was wondering if the bikes Electronic Shift Program is faulty or could it be a loose belt or something else

No belt on the machine. The sound you are hearing is likely the shift motor.

Poor power at high throttle could be a lot of things. Clogged main jet in the carb comes to mind. If it's more of a bog when you abruptly snap the throttle open, some of that is normal.

Anyway, welcome to the forum.

Sounds like a similar problem to what I have:

Your clutch is slipping, thus your engine is spinning (RPM) faster then it should be for the speed you are going, thus the hondamatic adjusts the pump for more speed (thinking you are moving), and thus loads your motor more, and it is a cycle until you cut your throttle. When your RPM drop, your transmission closes (Whirling noise), and your now hot clutch bites in when you stab the throttle.

The long of the short, you need a new clutch pack and probably drum.

Try driving it in ESP and see if it works better (you are controlling the hondamatic in ESP).

Chad.

Yes the centrifugal clutch drum is warped and it needs new clutch shoes also.
After repair make sure the unit's ECM is reset at 19 to 21 MPH then reinitialized to fix the shift point issue that took the drum out to begin with

Thank You Gimpster -Chadly-G and Jeffin-TD I appreciate you responses to my question about my Rancher. Sounds like more money into a bike with only 318 miles on it.

Try this, it may help.

Lift the rear axle and take off the rear wheels
Select 2WD mode
Select ESP Mode
Shift into Neutral
hold the front brake
Key off, depress and hold up and down shift buttons
Turn key on while holding them
Let off them and depress them in this order up-up, down-down
The gear position display should flash -- and N
Start the quad
Shift lever place into drive
shift up to 5th gear manually -- and 5 should alternate in the gearshift display
Accellerate to between 19 and 21 MPH and hold the speed there until the gear position display stops flashing and reads a steady 5
shift down to 1st and move the shifter to neutral.
Turn the key off and reinstall the tires

While in neutral, key off...
Depress the up and down shift buttons and hold them both depressed
turn on the key and in a few seconds let off the shift buttons and depress them in this order up, down and sweep the throttle wide open and let off.
The display will read -- in the gear position display area and you will hear the shift control motor cycle. WHen it is done the display will read N.

This resets the shift points in the ecm and the second proceedure initializes the system

It should help the unit unless the shift drum is warped really bad. It should move a shift point programming a little past where the centrifugal clutch shoes engauge with the drum

Thank You very much Gimpster. I really appreciate it alot. I am not very mechanically inclined and do not have extra money to be throwing into this bike so i really appreciate what you have said. I will try it Tuesday night and let you know what i find out.
Thank you again, Rich Gilbert
