Replacing shift arm on 350 Rancher

Default Replacing shift arm on 350 Rancher

Anyone know for sure if you have to remove the engine on 350 Rancher to replace the shift arm. Accourding to the Clymer manual it claims to remove the engine for this repair.

Forgot to mention, remove the oil dipstick before taking the front cover off
