i recently purchased a 2000 400 fourtrax with some mods already done.
big bore 440 (?) jetted carbs and curtis sparks exhaust.
it wouldnt start off the starter, but will fire right up when pulled. i took it to a shop and had the valves adjusted and some faulty wires redone. i also put a new battery on it. it still wont start off the starter, but seems to be cranking properly. it still roll starts just fine. im new to the scene and would appreciate some input.

if i was you id do a compression test on the cylinder

 

i rode tonight for awhile after rolling to start. runs strong. after parking, it fired up and started when hot, but it still wont start when cold. would the compression affect this? thanks.
