Hey Recon, Moose and I only have 500's and 550's. We're not people who just go out and buy the biggest and best featured machines we can find. We buy machine that offer us the most versatility for the job we have intended for them. Wouldn't you say Moose? Im here in South Dakota, some people immediately think South cause of the name, but we border Minnesota to the East and MN borders Canada to the North. The only thing to the North is North Dakota and Canada. The only time I have a redneck is in the spring when I start the lawn care season. After the initial burn it just tans.
In todays market the 500 class machine is the highest volume machine. As far as cupholders go, The XP's don't have one, neither do my rubi's. All of my Toro Z-turn commercial mowers have cupholders but I never use them. You loose good beverages that way cause they just don't stay in the holders over the bumps and thats at only 11 mph.
The XP's feel in similar to that of Honda in terms of being glued to the ground. Infact it's easier to get the Honda three wheeling than the XP. The XP is not floppy at all POPO has done a good job of limiting the roll on this machine. I do agree there are some people out there that will buy it cause it's the biggest. I think that number is pretty small though, Arctic Cat's thundercat 1000 cc is not selling that many. If you look at all the lines you find that most of the effort is centered in the 500 class. Even Honda realizes this, The rancher keeps growing 350, 400, now 420. Too many more cubes and they will be a 500 class machine. For someone who rides trails 300 probably all you need. For plowing Snow you need a 500 to do efficiently.

Yep, I have a good mix of decent gas mileage, gobs of tourque for towing, plenty of HP for my need for speed, racks that bow to no one, best on board storage, and legal for 2 riders everywhere. Can't get that better anywhere.

Glad to see the POPO's are working for you guys. They do offer some great features.
Accessories are where Honda struggles the most. It is still a pain just to hook up a winch, which should come standard with any 4x4. Lets face it, its only a matter if time till you go to far.

Hey Turfguy, you wouldn't happen to be in the lawn care business would you? Just asking. I am in two markets 60 miles apart take care of almost 170 lawn per week plus everything else that goes along with it. The POPO's new to me but Honda is where I started, still have two rubi's. Have lots of Gx series engines along with kawi's, kohler's, brigg's, koritz's, Husquavarna's, tecumseh's, Stihl's, and some New Holland deisels. If you maintain and treat them right they will treat you right.

Mega,
I am the Athletic Field Manager at Northwestern University. I oversee all our athletic field maintenance and recreational fields (get paid to watch a lot of college athletics). I was a turf nerd at Michigan State for many years, got a BS and MS in turf science. My nickname around here is "lawnboy". Just happy to have a job.
The Polaris is a nice machine, my brothers neighbor has an 800 Sportsman that does an amazing amount of work. He pulls some huge logs out of the woods, pretty powerful machine!!
My dad always said, "that if you take care of a machine, it will be there for you when you need it". Maintenance is most important

Recon, I am a Honda Guy too.
POPO's new to me. Thats why I joined there. Forums are new to me too. I am generally brand loyal. But became economy loyal in this economy. I bought from the same dealer that sold me my Rubi's. I guess you could say I'm 2/3 Honda. 2 rubis 1 popo.

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Sounds like things must be slow over in the Polaris forum........ </end quote></div> That's because they are better than you might think. I really didn't come over here to hijack the thread. I really want to see Honda come out with something like what I have. They just aren't anywhere on the horizon. I have a 2002 Honda Accord that has been excellent. My oldest son is now driving it. I want to see Honda succeed. Some of my first riding experiences have been on Hondas. I've been on ATC 250s, and some of the first 4 wheelers that Honda made. I and my son had a blast riding my buddy's son's Honda Recon. It was a great starter quad and holds its own well out on the trails. Come on Honda, make a 2-seater with good power. You'll have more sales. (I've been on large group trail rides and 2 seaters are becoming more and more numerous. Almost 1/3 of the quads on the most recent large group ride were Polaris 2-up machines. Honda can do it too!
