No actually, I think you missed my point. Certain ppl were talking about the Sportsman 850 XP's being the Renegade killer. On the sport side of the equation, which is what the 'Gade is supposed to be, I fail to see how the XP's kill it...

Recon, can you tell us what the prototype isn't? lol

I KNOW Mfg's have to have some really sweet prototype sport 4x4's in a top secret facility somewhere, just waiting to be released...where are they???

And geez, RECON is the one who's ridden this friggen' prototype, shouldn't we be buttering him up in an effort to elicit more info from him??

I don't want this thread to be abandoned because it turned sour...

Another thing, I notice Recon rarely directs his opinions to any ONE single person, if he thinks something is crap, he says it and thats it! But some ppl take personal offense, then redirect personal jabs at him.

Just an observation of mine, no need for anyone to get all cranky over it lol.

I can't see any where in this thread someone mentioned the Xp being the renegade killer it was designed to kill outlanders made by Can Am. Krait, this thread is no going downhill, its getting interesting. Some of us here like our "big" machines because we use them for more than just pleasure riding. We are bringing up what we want in a Honda. Keep in mind I have 2 Rubicons, wonderful machines. I just hoping they build something comparable.
I want EFI, EPS, 500-600cc, Independent rear suspension, rear rack cap at least 150 #'s, some built in storage, and it HAS to be automatic with a low range. Recon says it's something he would not personally buy so this leaves me hope that this could be along the lines of what he may have ridden.

Ha, and I remember before the Sportsman XP's came out, on different forums certain ppl were saying Polaris had a Renegade killer. I took that to mean that they were finally updating the Scrambler, and had something lighter, and meaner than the 'Gade. Along the lines of a Outlaw 525 IRS with 4x4. I was so disapointed when I saw the same old tired Scrambler, and when talking about a Renegade 'killer', it was simply directed to the slightly more powerful 850cc engine...</end quote></div>

Heres my quote, I never said anyone in this particular thread said anything about the XP's and Renegade etc. I was simply wishing upon a star about a nice sport 4x4 and one instance in the past when I was such disapointed.

Also, Recon said he liked the concept. And he thinks it will be a machine that will work great for a large majority of riders. So, being that he doesn't like big heavy quads, or two-up's, I can deduce that its most likely not one those.

He simply said he wouldn't purchase one for his partuícular riding conditions...not that he doesn't approve of the machine. Just pointing that out so we can figure out what this machine might NOT be...lol

HEY RECON when you trailer all your hondas out to the riding area of your choice do you hall it out there with a four cylinder mini truck or do you have a big truck? same goes for us big boys we dont want or care to ride a small little machine like a rancher we want something that will carry our fat ***** with our coolers loaded down back and forth with ease. ranchers are good machines for some folks. mini trucks are also good for some folks. you dont go bear hunting with a 22 rifle either...[/q]

But remember....you also don't go squirrel hunting with a .50 cal either!!!

The huge machines will always be there for those who want them for work or hunting, or whatever, but the majority of the market is just recreational trail riders. What has happened is that the trail riders buy the huge machines becasue that is what is on the dealer's floor, not necessarily understanding the ramifications, and not realizing that something else might be a wiser choice.

Look at Honda, they did the Rancher in 00, then we didn't see any updates until 07 (except plastic). In the meantime, what did they give us to pick from: 3 different big bores.

I too would like to see a light sport 4x4. That would be nice to have. Great on trips where you're not carrying alot of weight or towing. And, I would hate to see two people on a machine like that but someone who is a good rider can make up for any weaknesses in a vehicle as long as the weaknesses aren't dangerous.

True, though through the continuing dialogue here. Recon does not like bigger clunky quads "because they do not suit his conditions." He takes his little stuff where the big ones he rides with won't/can't go. He also says the ride quality is "particularly excellent", this leads my to think IRS. Though I suppose if "in comparison to" could be thought here, I betting on IRS, not huge but a replacement for the ancient foreman and rubicon which would also take the frame of the rincon too. Honda just freshened their Rancher Line it only seems logical they would do their 2nd best selling class which is nationally the best selling class and do it next.
