2004 rincon 250 need major help plzzz
#1
ok, so this post might be a little lenghty... but any help will be so very much appreciated....
my gf has a honda rincon 250 that has major probs...when i get it to start by the manual pull start [starter and all is shot] i have to continuously give it gas or it will just shut off... while im doing it it tends to backfire quite a bit...
now i have cleaned the carb, cleaned the air filter, changed the plug... honestly i am out of ideas and need some help i was going to try and get it at least running by the end of the week [hoping!] i dont have either manual so if anyone can help on that would be greatly appreciated....
i am kinda thinking i need new vaccum line?? idk i can hear it sucking air though so i figured that was obvious but anything would help... pics would be amazing...
where i should have the pilot screw etc adjusted to would also be very helpful...
also as said above 5th gear doesn't engage its almost as though it skips over the gear or falls just between 4th and 5th any ideas here?
also it needs a lot of work... wat are some major thing i can do...
already
changed oil,
cleaned carb,
new plug,
cleaned air filter,
anything would be appreciated...
thank you in advance...

I think you mean "Recon" 250. Anyway, the idle adjustment screw should be on the right side of the carb (if sitting on seat). The air/fuel screw is on the front (motor side) of the carb and is a little copper looking screw facing the ground. It should be 2 1/2 turns out so if your mixture is off then just screw it completely in and then back it out 2 1/2. If it has been sitting then you may need to drain the old fuel and put it in fresh. Also, check your fuel line for any gunky buildup. I know you said you cleaned the carb but after draining your fuel and checking the lines, I would clean it again and pay extra attention to the idle jet. They tend to clog up very easy as I have found out in my recon. A tip for preventing future problems, turn the fuel off and run the carb dry when storing.
You may need a valve adjustment too because tight (I believe) valves make for hard starting. Sorry I can't help with the 5th gear problem.

Not sure about that. I would say to do a vacuum test by taking off the air filter and covering the hole with your hand and push starter button, but you said your starter isn't working. You can look at diagrams of the carb on cyclepartsnation.com and just look up trx250. See what lines are connected where and compare to your carb.

Nothing to adjust but i would make sure you unscrew them (phillips head) and pull them completely out so you can hold them up to the light and look through to make sure they're clean.
