300ex

well ive ridden the 300ex and i really liked it, it was very stout for its size and easy to manuver through tight places. i own a 250x and its exactley like the 300ex. ofcourse i have to live without electric start.
on a scale of 1 to 10, ide give it a solid 8 1/2.

Maybe the best tight trail quad of all time! Agile, and it fits between the trees easily. Enough power for a tight trail, and descent suspension.
I use to bust out some pretty good air on mine!

ive gotta 300 also and it is a great bike if just getting into atv'n, or a smaller guy. im 6'1 220 so i feel a little cramed on it but that why its my old ladies. will take all the abuse you can give it and keep on running. does real well in the trails but 400ex shock conversion and axle extenders make it a much more stable bike for a reasonable price. Also a good set of tires. even some 450r tires, usually can find'm cheap. i ride a 400 slightly modded that im very happy with also.

thanks gsjeep how much am i looking at for the 400ex conversion. i don't know if i want to dump money into my 300ex like that or just get a cdi box and keep it how it is. i plan to have a four stroke: 400ex and a 2 stroke: banshee. i like my 300ex but i don't know if i want to sell it and get the 400ex

depending on your size the 300 is a great bike but of course the 400 is better and the 450 is even better but thats another topic biengs they cost quite a bit more and need more maintence. the shock conv is a must tho for the 300. you can find 400 shocks all day on ebay round 50 buks and the bracket from diamondjcustoms is 80 buy now but if you watch the bids you can grab one under 50 buks. also to extend it a little for better stance and stability for can get the stud extenders for like 15 buks a set. to me the 300 seems to wanna roll over easy under hard riding. for under 150 buks you can have much more suspension and stability. the 300 tends to bottom out very easy.

also i would stay clear of the banshee or any 2 stroke for that matter. get a 4 stroke unless you enjoy tearing motors apart. plus the banshee is so outdated oposed to the new bike on the market now. if you want that kinda power, get yourself a 450. any 450, there all great and much better all around than them old banshees. dont get me wrong the banshees are quick but the 450s are more reliable and a much better stock platform. the 450s are hard to beat. although i cant afford one right now, ive riddin many and the 400s dont come close to a 450

i love the banshee but that was the only bad thing about it out dated style and engine works constantly. i think i want to get a 400ex to dump money into if i am going to dump a ton of cash into a quad cause im 15 and i don't want to put alot of money iin to a quad i will sell after high school. but i have aways liked banshees since i was little. but i def think that i like 06 400ex is the way to go.. i like the older style with the 2 head lights but the new ones are soimpressive power wise. my friend has gotone. it is acually the guy i got my 300 off from

Last year my son wanted to put some miles on the 440ex I picked up,to get the feel for it before he did some motocross at the local fair, so we spent a day trail riding, my Wolverine was still apart for the bore/stroke kit, so I took his old 300ex, for the ride, I put the 18" Knarlys on the back, we went to Spider Lake by Motley in MN. I have to say, after years of riding a sport/ute, putting a leg over a flyweight like the 300ex was an eye opener, felt like I was riding a dirt bike, no effort to turn, a little weight shift on the seat, and you were sideways on the corners, on the twisty trails, I was actually keeping ahead of my son on the 440,it had so much grunt compared to the 300, he was always braking hard for the corners, while I could pin the gas, slide it sideways, and keep my speed. I see why my son loved that 300 so much growing up, he rode it from age 12 to almost 18, pretty good use of that purchase !! Of course, on the long straights, he blew me out so bad, by the time he hit 4th gear, he was almost a quarter mile ahead !! So anyone who just wants a fun, reliable quad, the 300ex is hard to beat, any age will have a blast on it.
