Is your spark plug boot in good shape?

Maybe, just maybe, the plug wire itself has broken down and has micro cracks in it. Sometimes amateur mechanics pierce the wire with a meter probe to check voltage. Just a thought. I mean, if it's dying when you spray the top of the motor, it's got to be electrical near the plug somewhere. I can't think of anything else it could be.
