I also have a 2005 400ex. im looking into purchasing a new exhaust system on this spring/ summer. i have been looking at the fmf powercore IV, the Q4, both paired up with the power bomb header. i have also been looking at the yoshimura RS-3 complete exhaust system. i have a FMF mega max exhaust that i dont use any more because its too loud, and ugly(IMO) i bought it because it was cheap. it did give the wheeler more power through out the rev range. the biggest improvement i have made to my ex is a hot cam. it definately helps out the EX. I was running it with just a slip on and with the stock air box lid on with K&N and i noticed a decent improvement. today i installed my homemade K&N filtered lid and rejetted the carb. with my stock exhaust(baffles cut out) it makes even more power. i cant wait to purchase a head pipe and silencer. i dont know what you have for mods on your ex but i would definately add a cam. usually fmf pipes concentrate on low-mid rpm power with some gains on top. you cant really go wrong with fmf.

I put a lexx mxe exhaust on my 07 400ex and couldnt be happier...its basically a yoshi replica.. power at low midand top were really great and unexpected. 199 at rmatv.com. pics of it are in my album. what ive heard is you really dont get all the power its intended for unless you up graded to a 426 or 440. both the fmf and yoshi are excellent ehausts either way.
