Default 400ex question

hey everyone,
im pretty new to this owning an atv thing, so sorry if my questions are retarded. i just bought a 2002 400ex the guy gave me a few things and im not sure of everyythng he put on it so it makes it a little harder. the box he gave me was the Advantage Performance - Pro Atv Power Pack..
it says it has a
Pro design base plate
k&n air filter
Carb. Jet kit
waterproof outerwears prefilter
and something about "adjustable for all altitudes" not so sure what that even means
and he also gave me a magic racing muffler he bought off someone but never put on.
From what i know the quad hasnt been jetted.
the air filter is on it im assuming the base plate is too i dont know what that is or where it is so im not sure.
anyways, in order to put the muffler on i need to jet it after? why? is it prety much just like tuning a car?
and my last question is if i should get it jetted professionally or do it myself, and where should i take it to get it done if i need it professionally done?
sorry this is the most rediculous thread ive ever started haha thanks for your help if you can.

Default do it yourself

I am sure this will not be your lost change to the machine so like many of us it is better to learn it for your self so just remember white spark plug is to lean you need to go up in jet size or add fuel and black plug is to rich so go down in jet size or reduce fuel to air mixture. So just make little changes go for a test ride and check it and if all else come back on here and someone will help.

that is a dyno jet kit it comes with adjustable needle.clip should be in middle slot in needle.if theres 1 jet missing it is probbaly jetted already.which 1 is missing.what mods are you running.what altitude???cars are fuel injected well most of them.if you put the slip on on it will be too lean as in might blow up.jetting is not hard you dont even hane to take the carb off.there is a 17mm or 14mm bolt on bottom of carb un screw it the main jet is right there takes a flathead screwdriver.the numbers are stamped on the jet.you do have to loosen the carb up to move it around.let me know how it goes.
