I was wondering what the best exhaust was that would give me the most power for my 2000 400ex. Its bone stock right now so i need to know if i should get a K&N to help or jet kit. I have heard people say its helps to have both or either on with new exhaust so you dont fould plugs easily. Any advice would help alot personal experiences, links, ANYTHING!
Thanks

Read the latest issue of dirt wheels magazine, they did a shoot out on 400ex pipes. Definitely add the filter when you change your exaust. You will also have to modify you carb jetting and most likely cut holes in your air box so your bike can breathe.
I went with the LRD system, which dirt wheels did not rate. I really like it. I can't tell you it's better than any other pipe, but I can tell you the people at LRD are great to deal with. They were the only company that answered all the questions I had. They were the only ones, at the time I bought my pipe (about 6 months ago), that had test data for my bike. All the other companies that I had talked to could give me a guess of what it was going to do for my bike, but no specifics.
Good luck with the search. I an sure you will be happy with anything that you buy.

You have to think ahead when buying your exhaust. If you are not planning on doing any motor mods then any slip-on would be fine. But if you might do motor work down the road, then you have to get a more free flowing system. The best complete exhaust systems for a built 400 are:
(my opinion)

LRD-$365
DMC-$479
Curtis Sparks X-6-$425
White Bros pro-meg-$449
GT Thunder-$480ish
