gotta 400ex and got a 450r cam chain but its to big with tensioner fully tightened. isnt the 450r and crf450r the same chain? why would it be so loose? mechanic said the motor looks like its been into before and maybe someone changed a cam sprocket? or do i just have the wrong chain. also he said he could take a link out. do you guys vote for or against that?

not all cam chains and motors are the same like you say you have a 400ex whith a 450r cam chain those are 2 totally diffrent motors with a diffrent cam chain,piston,head and every thing. And it dosent matter how tight you want to get the tensers the cam chain is too big for it i would go to the shop and order a new 400ex cam chain aka timing chain there not expensive.

 

i was trying to do the heavyier crf450r chain like alota people reccomend. but my mechanic got the trx450r chain and i was curious if the 2 bikes used the same chain but found out the trx450r chain is 2 links longer than the crf450r
