Hi all,
Good post.
I am also interested in which tach works for the Recon, I've got a 2002 that seems to be the community 4 wheeler. Everyone always seems to ask; "when to shift?". Upload a pic if you can.
Thanks
Andrew

Don't have pix, but can describe mounting location.
I bought a "Tiny Tach" from Cabela's it was $40.00 and I think "one size fits all". Only one mdl., I think.
This is for a '01 Recon. I mounted the tach on the black panel that covers the top of the gas tank. I came back(toward rider) about 2" from fuel filler neck, and centered it on this panel. The biggest pain in the butt is getting the cover panel off the bike, as you have to fasten tach from the backside of this panel. If I remember correctly, the side panels(side of fuel tank) have to come most of the way off to remove(un-hook) the top cover. The wiring is VERY simple, as the unit is self-powered and the pick-up is inductive. It'll take about 5 min. to wire up! 1 ground wire and then you wrap the inductive cable(5 turns? See Instructions) around the spark plug wire....your done! It should take about 1 1/2 hr. for you to do a nice install. I used stainless steel fasteners and nyloc nuts for my install. GOOD LUCK, Mike.

Few question about 2001 Recon

How does this tech work?
Where do you hook wires to for tech?
How much and what kind of motor oil do I use in the quad?
