2000 Rancher, Gotta question
#1
Hey guys, just bought my first atv to use around the farm. It's a 2000 Rancher 350 2wd (nonES). I love the machine, it has very low hours and runs like a champ, but I have one problem. If you kill it in gear it's a b#$ch to shift it in neutral to start it again.
As long as the engine's running it shifts perfect. Is this normal, or is something wrong? Any help appreciated.

This is fairly common, on any manual trans machine. The gears just mesh better when there is some movement. You just have to remember to downshift as you are rolling to a stop. This puts you back in 1st for a new start or neutral to shut it down, all of which you are going to have to do anyway, so might as well do it as you are stopping.

Another suggestion is to jerk the machine back and forth if you are stopped and trying to get it in neutral. Just shift your weight to try and get it to move a little, even rocking manuals side to side has helped me in the past.
