Default 400ex on end?

Well I am taking leave next month (going to Tennessee) and wanted to take the 400 with me. There isn't allot of room for it with the bags and dog in the back of the truck so I was thinking of putting it on its rear and strapping it down. Will this work for a 12 hour drive or would this be a no go?

Kinda dangerous if you ask me. Can't you borrow a trailer from someone? Or buy an inexpensive trailer? Buying a trailer would be far less expensive than replacing an ATV after possibly falling out of the truck.

I have access to a trailer but it kills gas mileage and I already get bag mpg. If this is not the thing to do then it will just stay here.
