400ex vs. Banshee
#21
it takes alot of skill to do good in xc terrain with a banshee and it also beats you to death, ive seen alot of banshees in hare scrambles that did awesome, lol you monkeys that love to bash 2 strokes are pathetic, i love both 2 and 4 strokes but 2 strokes are monsters....do a little research and learn about 2 strokes before running your yaps saying there high maintenance crap, they might require a little higher maintenance which most are to lazy to do...but rebuild price is alot lower and easier to perform, engine for engine 2 strokes make better power then a 4 stroke, look up the old yamaha RD 500 streetbikes there very old and smoke r1s and stuff and there only 500cc, also the Cr500AFs vs a 450 thumper on a track same rider the rider was able to get 2 second shorter lap times with the 500. so just show some respect for the old 2 strokers and stop acting like a little child lol.

Oh, I completely agree man. I always hear the high maintenance thing and don't quite get it. Besides tweaking on the carb here and there (which is done with any carbureted engine) my bro never touched his 'shee. Outside quads my dad has an old Steel chainsaw thats like 180 years old or something. Starts every winter with minimal work. Another plus is the engine is much easier to work on. Less moving parts than on a 4 stroke.
I don't mean to sound like I'm bashing 2 strokes at all. They, like anything have limits and potential. I believe in the right tool for the right job. That's why I say trails, you don't want a 'shee. Dunes or some crazy drag racing. Than a 'shee is what you want. In fact one day my bro and I WILL build us a "Monster" 'shee. Not because it's good for this or that just because they are so dang fun to drive!
Of course this is all if given a choice. If you already own something you'll make it work everywhere and more often than not believe it's the best and can't be beaten. : )

A good friend of mine has a "non-stock" 500 cc Banshee that I think was dyno'd at 91 hp at the rear wheels.
He said he had to re-learn how to ride it.
Another friend had a 90 or 91 Polaris liquid cooled 350 2-stroke 4-wd (trail blazer??) that would walk away from any of the 500s in our group.
The only problem I ever saw with the 350 2-stroke was that he had to carry twice as much gas as we did.
