400ex turned crank backwards

Default 400ex turned crank backwards

Hi,I'm new here and wanted a opinion,I was checking my valves on my 06 400EX which were ok but I turned the crank clockwise 2 revolutions by accident,I didn't realize until I heard the decompression thing click,it runs fine just wondering?

Oh boy. You may have messed up the banjo threads on the shrader valve. Just kiddin. I don't think it will hurt anything.

I don't think it hurt anything either. The whole entire rotating assembly moves as one and in sync, whether it's going forward or reverse.

Yeah, I agree, but the service manual is pretty clear about warning against it. I think it has everything to do with the timing chain possibly loosening off the tensioner and slipping over the teeth causing a timing issue. I'm sure it would be difficult to make this actually happen though... Good luck!

It's more of a liability protection than anything.
