i have a 1987 trx 250x.


when i finally kick it enough to get it to turn over (takes a while) it just wants to put around and backfire. full throttle putts around the yard at about 4 mph, cant even get it out of first gear.. does not idle on its own anymore either. i cleaned the jets out on the carb and it didnt seem to do anything. i also changed the gas a few times to see if it was due to bad gas, helped none.. if you know whats wrong please message me with your help... thanx

 

check to see what kinda spark that thing is putting out, kinda seems like a funked up carb problem that needs thoroughly cleaned.

 

right when the problem occured i got a new spark plug first thing, so it has a brand new plug in it.. i may just rebuild the carb,

 

Check the float in your carb i had one that the float had a pin hole in it and it was doing the same thing
