2007 400ex
I recently purchased a 400ex, I would like to install after market equipment to protect my investment aa well as myself. Any suggestions as to how I can modify my wheeler? If so where can I obtain the parts? I need a new helmet, and I want something that quality but I dont want to break the bank. Any suggestion???

try Motorcycle Parts, Gear and Accessories at MotoSport
I agree, nerfs should be your first safety upgrade.

Do the things first that will protect you and the quad, then do performance mods later on! Here is what I do to all my new quads, and the order in which I do them:
Nerf Bars....these will save you a severe injury some day! (I like DG Racer Pegs)
Full Chassis and Swingarm Skid Plates (I like DG Baja Series)
Bumper (I like IMS Intimidator)
Tires/rims that are wider and have a greater offset...this will greatly increase the stability of the machine, and make you much less likely to dump it over, yet you won't have to shell out the big $$$ for a-arms and a wider axle! (I run ITP Baja rims and ITP Holeshot XC tires. This makes the quad +3-4 inches!)
A good steering damper! (See Golden West)
Replace the heavy steel handlebars with something lighter and lower (I like TAG METALS)
Aftermarket suspension, if and when you can afford it (suspension will actually make you go faster, becasue you don't have to slow down as much for whoops and trail obsticles!)....or at least be sure your stock suspension is optimally adjusted!
Light engine mods....that will not effect the reliability of the engine! (air intake and exhaust, and of course a rejet)
And, run a good quality ester based synthetic oil, like Redline or Maxima Extra/Ultra/530MX, and keep your valves properly adjusted!
